Craft Activities

Can’t make it to the museum? Have a go at some of our previous holiday activities from home.

Jimmy the Tortoise

Florence Nightingale wrote that ‘a small pet is often an excellent companion for the sick’ and the Soldiers at Scutari Hospital actually had their own pet, a tortoise called Jimmy. Use these instructions to make your own tortoise Companion.

Athena the Owl

Here at the Florence Nightingale museum we have a stained glass window of Florence Nightingale. We think Florence would have preferred a window with her favourite pet decorating it though. Use these instructions to make your very own Athena the Owl stained glass.

Cat Bookmark

Did you know Florence Nightingale had over 60 cats during her lifetime and wrote around 200 books and pamphlets?

What better way to combine two of her favourite things than a cat bookmark!
