Description
A colourful jigsaw with which to spend the evenings.
Manufactured by The Great British Jigsaw Company, a husband-and-wife team, these jigsaws are produced entirely in UK and, as a company with a conscience, they are printed on 100% recycled puzzle board. As they themselves say of their manufacturing process, our jigsaws have a beautiful silk finish, giving optimum sheen without the glare of a high gloss finish, which can impair visibility when completing a jigsaw. Unlike a matt finish, our silk effect has a smooth touch, allowing puzzlers to run their hand across the finished puzzle – what we refer to as ’the jigsaw rub’!
The illustration used, Florence Nightingale in the Military Hospital at Scutari, comes from a coloured lithograph by J.A. Benwell, and dates to 1855. Interestingly for such a famous image, the lamp is not actually correct! She would have used a Turkish lamp known as a Fanoos. The artist also produced the coloured lithograph Battle of Alma, depicting the aftermath, though he is probably best known for illustrating religious publications.
Completed puzzle is approx. 69cm x 48cm.
Not suitable for children under the age of 3 due to small pieces.
