Robin Betts is a leader in clinical innovation and the implementation of safety improvement initiatives and has dedicated her professional life to patient safety, quality, and high reliability systems to elevate safety and quality in health care. She has had a distinguished 37-year health care career as pediatric and NICU nurse, nursing informaticist and executive leader of quality, risk management and patient safety.

As Vice President for Quality, Clinical Effectiveness & Regulatory Services for Kaiser Permanente Northern California, Robin helps further advance Kaiser Permanente’s nation-leading excellence in quality and patient safety, mental health services and oversees health plan and hospital regulatory functions, including compliance, licensing, and member grievances. She sets the vision for patient safety and quality in pursuit of clinical and quality excellence.

In 2013, the Patient Safety Movement Foundation awarded Robin with its Humanitarian Award that recognizes leaders from around the world who have made significant progress in saving lives from preventable medical harm.

Robin now represents Kaiser Permanente as a board member for the international Patient Safety Movement Foundation. She also serves on the board of LifeLong Medical, a local safety net provider in Northern CA, and chairs their Quality board committee. She is also an advisory board member for the Weber State University master’s in healthcare administration program. Robin continues as an adjunct professor at Weber State University in Utah, where she teaches quality and risk management in health care in its MHA program.

Robin holds an MBA in Health Care Management from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, a BS in Information Technology, and a nursing degree.
